The Westminster College Department of Economics and Business will host its semiannual  Professional Networking Symposium 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. March 21. The public is invited to observe, but registration is required for all attendees.

The purpose of the event is to encourage relationships between Westminster College students and alumni. Attendees can choose among dozens of panels and presentations on a variety of topics, including career development, resume building and personal branding, entrepreneurship, consulting, and internships.

The event is organized under the leadership of co-founders Dr. Daniel Fischmar, Westminster professor of economics, Ben Nelson '06, assistant vice president of Moody's Corporation in New York City and Dr. Christie Grewe Nelson '06, postdoctoral research fellow with CCICADA/Rutgers University. Karen Coulter of the Department of Economics and Business coordinated the event, leading the operations team and serving as liaison for organizations hosting booths during the career fair.

“Each year, the event brings even more energy and enthusiasm to our community,” shares Fischmar. “It’s a free pass to everything anyone could need in starting their career journey – establishing relationships, finding mentors and making connections that could lead to future partnerships.”

Alumni from Alcoa, Ernst & Young, Giant Eagle, Highmark, Moody’s, PNC Bank, ThermoFisher Scientific, UPMC, and many others are scheduled to attend. Dr. Jane Wood, dean of academic affairs, will be welcoming guests and Ralph A. Dise, Jr., trustee and founder and president, Dise & Company, will be sharing opening remarks.
