Westminster College is launching “Music in Wallace Memorial Chapel,” a series of sacred music events that will run from October through December.  

The inaugural season begins with an organ recital at noon on Friday, Oct. 2 and will include concerts that encompass worship services, choir performances and other musical selections. Inspired by Westminster’s longstanding commitment to tradition and growth, the series seeks to strengthen the spiritual and cultural life of the campus and local community through music. 

“We invite audiences to encounter beauty, reflect on questions of faith and meaning and experience the transformative power of music in a sacred space,” said Dr. Ryan Keeling, associate professor of music.  

This year’s featured events include: 

First Friday Organ Recital: Noon, Friday Oct. 2
All Saints Evensong: 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28
Westminster Choirs - Light Eternal, featuring Faure’s Requiem: 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1
First Friday Organ Recital: Noon, Friday Nov. 6
First Friday Organ Recital: Noon, Friday Dec. 4
Christmas Worship: 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6 

"I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our sacred music offerings through this new series. Westminster has a rich history of sacred music and it feels right to reconnect with our past by presenting an eclectic but unified series of musical events to our campus and community. I hope the audience finds inspiration when they attend these events in a sacred space," said Keeling.
