The Westminster College Preschool Lab hosted Parents' Night April 21.
Westminster College's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning has been awarded an AmeriCorps Pennsylvania Campus Compact-Volunteer in Service to America (PACC-VISTA) grant.
Westminster College's "Get Real!" life preparation series will present a panel on "Living Green" Tuesday, Nov. 8. This will be the final session of the fall semester.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, Westminster College associate professor of music, performed in February as part of the Friday Morning Music Club (FMMC) in Riderwood, Md.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Amy Camardese, Westminster College associate professor of education, was published in the Winter 2014 issue of The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin. Camardese, a resident of Youngstown, is a member of the Beta Chi Chapter in Ohio.
The Westminster College Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig, will perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Conference.
"Our Wind Ensemble was offered Friday, April 30, at 1:20 p.m.," Greig said. "It's the most prestigious spot in the conference because it will be followed by an address from the Secretary of Education."
Westminster was one of 25 groups chosen from 150 audition recordings sent last fall.
"This is the first time a large instrumental ensemble from Westminster received such a distinction," Greig said. "Commonly, the college instrumental groups are chosen from larger schools and universities, most of whom have graduate programs, as well as undergraduate programs."
"I'm extremely proud of the Wind Ensemble, the literature that they are able to perform, and the seriousness with which our students approach their performances," Greig continued. "As a representative of Westminster, we want to let our colleagues know that our Music Department and musical opportunities here are current, comprehensive, and extremely competitive with other institutions of higher learning regardless of size."
While at the conference, Greig will deliver a lecture, "Warming up: Training for Future Success," which focuses on the use of the initial time in ensemble rehearsals when ensemble directors prepare their students for the rehearsal class. Greig will use the Westminster College Wind Ensemble to demonstrate various techniques to help engage students, to help warm up the minds of the students, as well as their instruments, and to develop proficiencies that will lead to enhanced learning.
Other instrumental ensembles include the Titan Marching Band, The Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble.
The state music convention regularly draws over 1,000 music educators from Pennsylvania and surrounding states who attend to see the finest ensembles in the state, and to attend various sessions and seminars to help enhance and promote music and music education.

The third annual New Wilmington Area Business Expo will be held Saturday, March 19 at the Westminster College Memorial Field House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Businesses wishing to participate should register by Feb. 14. Space is filling up fast, according to event organizers. Contact Anne Bruening (724-946-3300) for more information.
Last year's Business Expo featured booths from 105 area businesses and over 1,000 visitors packed the Westminster Field House. This year the Business Expo will expand to the main and auxiliary gyms and the lobby to provide additional room for business booths and patrons.
"We hope that local businesses will take advantage of this great opportunity and participate," said event co-chair Betty Jones. "This type of event is a great way to introduce yourself and your business to potential customers and other businesses. We are excited about the quality of the door prizes that will be given away, and expect this year's Business Expo to showcase some of the great things available in our community."
Jones added that "home-based" businesses and food vendors are welcome to participate.
The event is organized by the New Wilmington Area Chamber of Commerce and is intended to provide local businesses with one-on-one contacts and marketing opportunities. Patrons of the event will have the opportunity to win one of many valuable door prizes being donated by participating businesses. Admission to the event is free.
All area businesses are invited to participate. A registration fee is required in addition to providing a door prize. Each participating business will be given space to display their products. New Wilmington Area Chamber members receive a discount off the registration fee. Deadline to register is Feb. 14, and space is limited.

F.J. Hartland, playwright and 1980 Westminster College graduate, will speak at the Bleasby Colloquium Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center.
"Hartland is an award-winning playwright with plays produced and work-shopped in Off and Off-Off-Broadway in New York and Pittsburgh," said Dr. Andrew Ade, assistant professor of English at Westminster College and coordinator of this event. "Two of his plays have been published by Samuel French. His latest play, 'Postcards from a Dead Dog,' won the top prize at the 2005 Pittsburgh New Works Festival, an annual showcase of new plays that has produced his works in each of the last seven years. Hartland is also director of theater arts and associate professor of English at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson."
This colloquium is the second in a series of events scheduled for the George Bleasby Colloquia, a series of literary events in honor of Dr. Bleasby, who chaired the Department of English at Westminster from 1954-75.
