Westminster's Diversity Celebration Continues with "Gospitality"

Westminster College's continues its diversity celebration in February with "Gospitality" Friday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

 "Gospitality" is a hand-clapping, fan-waving gospel review, which takes the audience through the history of gospel music.  The musical history starts with the slave ship rhythms to call and response in the cotton fields with such moving spirituals such as "Wade in the Water" and "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen."  The show continues with tributes to gospel pioneers like The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Rosetta Tharp, Marian Anderson, and moves on with numbers made famous by Mahalia Jackson such as "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and "Walk All Over God's Heaven."

Westminster College's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is hosting a tri-state network and development meeting Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 4-6 p.m. (including dinner) in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.

Alumna Accepted to Cambridge Graduate Program

Winnie Limmer

Winifred Limmer, a 2006 Westminster College graduate in psychology, was accepted as a graduate student in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Cambridge School of Biological Sciences.

English Professor to Speak at Bleasby Colloquium

Dr. Bethany Hicok

Dr. Bethany Hicok, Westminster College associate professor of English, will present "'Revolutionary Intersections': Freud, Modernism, and Belief in Wallace Stevens" at the Bleasby Colloquium Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center. The program is free and open to the public.

Three groups came on April 21 to plant trees at the Field Station nine days ahead of National Arbor Day. Two groups of 33 were from Wilmington Elementary School on a field day and over 50 children and parents were from Westminster's Preschool celebrating family night.

Celebrity Series to Host Vocal Competition

Westminster College's Celebrity Series will host a vocal competition March 22 to choose one male and one female Westminster student to perform with Broadway legend Franc D'Ambrosio during his March 23 concert at Westminster.

Preschool Lab Hosts Summer Science Camp

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Preschool Lab hosted its eighth annual Summer Camp for Kids June 18-22. The program provided children, ages 4-6, exciting opportunities to learn basic science concepts through investigation, data collection, sensory exploration and guest speakers.
