NEW WILMINGTON, PA –  Theatre Westminster will present its first 24-Hour Theatre Festival at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Beeghly Theater on Westminster’s campus.

In the span of 24 hours, participating students will cast, write, direct and produce short plays. All decisions on the play productions—including lights, sound, costumes and props—will take place over the course of a single 24-hour period.

Students will audition for six plays at 8 p.m. Friday. After casting, writers will stay up through the night to pen the plays based off the actors’ auditions. Directors and actors will arrive Saturday morning and begin rehearsals.

“This is such a fun experience to be a part of and an interesting challenge for almost every part of theater,” said Yiannoula Katsadas, a sophomore marketing and professional sales major and theatre minor.

Saturday’s play is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Karen Dabney, visiting assistant professor of theatre, at 724-946-6238 or dabneykm@westminster.edu.
