Westminster College hosts Student Symposium on the Environment

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Westminster College will host the 11th annual Student Symposium on the Environment from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in McKelvey Campus Center.

More than 50 student researchers from Westminster College, Duquesne University, Geneva College, Slippery Rock University, Chatham University, Clarion University, University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, Greenville Senior High School and Central Valley High School are participating.

For the first time, the College's Professional Development Center will partner with the Center for the Environment to host regional businesses and employers. Those attending will review student poster presentations and talk to students about local internship and job opportunities. Employers include Dairy Farmers of America, FracTracker Alliance, Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc., Mercer County Conservation District, Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Environmental Protection.

Students will present their research posters from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms and oral presentations from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Mueller Theater.

The symposium is sponsored by Westminster College and the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition. Awards are made possible through the generosity of Stream Restoration Inc.
