Westminster College will host the 8th Annual Student Environmental Symposium, Thursday, December 3 in the McKelvey Campus Center. Sponsored by the Environmental Programs and the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition, the event is free and open to the public.

Over 40 student researchers from Westminster College, Allegheny College, Duquesne University, Geneva College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University, and Youngstown State University will present their research posters from 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms and will present oral presentations at 7 – 9 p.m. in Mueller Theater.

“The Symposium perfectly highlights student work in the region that relates to the environment,” said Dr. Helen Boylan, professor and chair of Westminster’s environmental programs. “We have a wide variety of student projects being presented, from art projects made from natural dyes, to citizen science projects involving student-crafted spectrometers, to studies on invasive species. I encourage those who are interested in the environment to come network with—and support—the student presenters.”
