Westminster College Visiting Assistant French Professor Presents Research at the University of Notre Dame

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Leslie Kealhofer, Westminster College visiting assistant professor of French, gave a guest lecture Oct. 8 at the University of Notre Dame, her alma mater.
"Mothers, Daughters, and the Transmission of Memory in Documentaries by Maghrebi-French Women" examines how contemporary documentaries directed by women of North African origin in France treat the theme of memory and the transmission of memory within the context of the mother-daughter dynamic.
Kealhofer's visit was sponsored by Notre Dame's French and Francophone Studies program, as well as the Ph.D. in Literature program. During the visit she was a guest in a Transcultural Francophone Cinema course. She also met with undergraduate students studying French and graduate students in the Ph.D. in Literature program.
"As a 2006 alumna of the University of Notre Dame, I was honored to be invited back to campus to give a guest lecture and to have the opportunity to meet with students and former professors," Kealhofer said.
Kealhofer currently teaches elementary and intermediate level French classes at Westminster and is the faculty adviser to the French Club. Kealhofer joined the Westminster faculty in 2011. In addition to earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, she earned a master's degree and Ph.D. from Florida State University.
