Westminster College’s Celebrity Series continues the season with “Three American Troubadours,” a concert celebrating the music of James Taylor, Carly Simon and Carole King at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in Orr Auditorium.
“Three American Troubadours” highlights the lives and careers of six-time Grammy winner James Taylor, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Carly Simon and Carole King, who wrote or co-wrote 118 Billboard Hot 100 pop hits.
The three iconic American singer/songwriters—whose personal lives and careers have intertwined throughout the years—have produced memorable hit songs such as “How Sweet It Is,” “Shower the People,” “Anticipation,” “You’re So Vain,” “It’s Too Late” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”
“Three American Troubadours” features the combined talent of three powerhouse vocalists, a six-piece band and engaged storytelling with multi-media elements all produced on one stage.
The concert showcases Lisa Sherman, a Broadway veteran who has shared the stage with Broadway royalty; singer-songwriter Alice Leon and guitarist James Gedeon, whose interpretation of James Taylor is remarkable. Band members Buddy Allen, John Colaiacovo, Tommy Labella, Ralph Notaro, Gary Oleyar and John Rogers have previously performed with such notable acts as The E Street Band, Loggins & Messina, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and more.
Produced by Oscar and Golden Globe winner Franke Previte, co-writer of “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” and “Hungry Eyes” from the movie ‘’Dirty Dancing,” the concert is managed by Lee Shapiro, former music director of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
“Three America Troubadours” is sponsored by UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson, a leading supporter of the arts in the community.
