NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster recently restructured the Psychology Preschool Lab.

Debi Roud was promoted to head teacher. She has been a teacher at the school for 22 years and has worked in the field of early childhood education since 1984. Roud earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Westminster College and is certified in early childhood education.

Roud took over for Diana Reed, who moved from head teacher to lecturer of education. Reed has been with Westminster since 1990 and earned her undergraduate degree in communication arts/literature from Grove City College and a master's in teaching from the University of Pittsburgh.

Melissa Moore will start as a new teacher on Aug. 15. She earned undergraduate degrees in both elementary education and early childhood education from Clarion University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Moore has worked as an early childhood educator since 2007.

"I am very excited about this coming year and working with such a talented staff," said Dr. Mandy Medvin, director of the preschool, professor of psychology and department chair. "We look forward to continuing to provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum to children at our school.  Our goal is to work together with parents to foster a warm, enriching environment where children can develop, create and learn."

The Westminster College Preschool Lab is a multi-purpose facility that serves both Westminster and the community.  Designed by early childhood experts, the laboratory school is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for the area's children.  The program is enhanced by the use of innovative curriculum, well-trained staff, developmentally appropriate equipment, and individual attention.  It is accredited by the NAEYC's National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, which was recently renewed.
