Dr. Carl Salter, professor of chemistry at Moravian University, will discuss “Isaac Asimov: The Relativity of Scientific Models” at a public lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Dietz Sullivan Lecture Hall at the College’s Hoyt Science Center.

Salter will discuss two Asimov essays about science and history and how they help shape Asimov’s philosophy of science. Asimov was an American author and biochemist, best known for his works of science fiction.

Salter’s research interests include molecular orbital calculations, laser spectroscopy and applications of least squares fitting to chemistry.  His work is published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society and the Journal of Chemical Education. He holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.

Sponsored by Westminster’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the lecture is free and open to the public.
