Westminster College is gearing up to welcome alumni, students, families and friends back to campus for its annual Homecoming celebration, set for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18.
The weekend will feature a full slate of events honoring Titan pride and tradition, including the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen, athletic matches, class reunions and various alumni gatherings that bring the Westminster spirit to life.
On Friday, Oct. 17, returning alumni can sit in on a class with current students, explore the alumni authors collection in McGill Memorial Library or visit the “Yoko Ono: Passages and Wishes” exhibition in the Foster Art Gallery in Patterson Hall. From 9 to 11 a.m. in the TUB in McKelvey Campus Center, alumnus author Len Rich ’92 will hold a book signing for “Lessons from Coach,” a heartfelt tribute to the life-changing mentors who shaped him—most notably the late Gene Nicholson, former Westminster head football coach.
At 5:30 p.m., Westminster will celebrate Lee Hite ’66, Christie (Grewe) Nelson ’06, Glenn Thompson ’68, Veronica Corcoran ’15 and current senior Christine Rossi ’26 during the annual alumni awards reception and dinner in the Witherspoon Rooms of McKelvey Campus Center.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Westminster invites the community to join the Homecoming festivities at the all-campus celebration, the Homecoming Hot Spot. Located creekside between Hoyt Science Center and Memorial Field House, the Hot Spot will feature food trucks, honey sampling with the Westminster Bee Company, a bouncy house, games, the introduction of the Homecoming court and more.
The football game against the Thiel College Tomcats will kick off at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field at Burry Stadium. The Westminster Cable Network (WCN) will telecast the game on local Armstrong and Comcast cable systems and it will also stream live at www.wcnlive.com. Titan Radio will also broadcast the game on 88.9 FM and online at www.titanradiolive.com.
Other Homecoming activities include a worship service hosted by the Class of 1975, campus tours, class reunions and additional alumni programming.
