The 2025 Carillon Summer Concert Series at Westminster College will feature four carillonneurs who will perform on the College’s 42-bell Duff-Armington Memorial Carillon on select Friday afternoons in July and August.

Mitchell Stecker, Westminster’s organist and carillonneur, will kick off the series on July 18. Guest carillonneurs include Laura Ellis on July 25, Trevor Workman on Aug. 1 and Michelle Lam on Aug. 8.

Stecker is an active composer whose works have premiered throughout the United States and Europe. Outside of Westminster, he also serves as director of music and liturgy at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh and directs the 50-voice Festival Chorale in Washington, Pa. He previously served as a carillon fellow at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Fla. In addition to his master’s and bachelor’s degrees, he studied at the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn” in Belgium.

Ellis, associate director of the University of Florida School of Music, is serving her second term as president of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA). She has performed solo recitals at the University of Sydney in Australia and at the National Carillon in the Australian capital of Canberra.

Workman serves as carillonneur for the historic Bournville Carillon in Birmingham, England, a post he has held since 1965. A prominent figure in British carillon culture, he received the British Empire Medal from the late Queen Elizabeth II and has performed internationally throughout Europe and the United States, currently serving as president of the Carillon Society of Britain and Ireland.

Lam, an associate carillonneur at the Netherlands Carillon in Arlington, Va., was the resident carillonneur at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., from 2019-2023. An alumna of the Wellesley College Guild of Carillonneurs, she has served as the co-chair of the GCNA’s finance committee since 2023 and was elected to its board of directors in 2024. Her recitals and work in the carillon community focus on highlighting people of color, women and lesser played works.

One of only 55 college carillons nationwide, Westminster’s bells—42 in all—are an integral part of campus life and ring the “Westminster Chime” every quarter hour throughout the day.

All performances begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Quad near Westminster’s Old Main building.  They are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and lunch to the performances. Concerts will be held in the Wallace Memorial Chapel if inclement weather occurs.
