Sports management capstone students at Westminster College are hosting two campus events to raise funds in support of Morgan’s Message, a non-profit organization working to eliminate the stigma surrounding student-athlete mental health issues.

A watch party for the Final Four in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Berlin Lounge of McKelvey Campus Center. A halftime raffle will include prizes such as Pittsburgh Pirates tickets, Pittsburgh Riverhounds tickets and items from Westminster’s Campus Store. Pizza, wings, popcorn and drinks will be available for a minimal price. Sports management students will be assisted by men’s and women’s lacrosse players.

From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in the Memorial Field House parking lot, students will host a tailgate party surrounding Westminster’s softball doubleheader and the men’ and women’s lacrosse games. For a fee, attendees can participate in a game of cornhole, sink a favorite Westminster employee in a dunk tank, and enjoy Rita’s Italian Ice or eats from a barbecue food truck.

While the watch party is a students-only event, the tailgate is open to the public.

Morgan’s Message—created in memory of Morgan Rodgers, a Division I women’s lacrosse player at Duke University who died by suicide in 2019—aims to amplify stories, resources and expertise to strengthen student-athlete mental health. For more information, visit www.morgansmessage.org.
