Accounting


Westminster’s accounting majors are immersed in learning, applying, and communicating the language of business… Accounting. You will learn from industry-experienced professors, and will benefit from a large alumni professional network that is enthusiastic about engaging with students. Individual academic and career advising from practicing CPA professors will help you develop strategies to earn the 150 credit hours necessary for CPA licensure in four years through unique two-credit classes and a variety of business and accounting internships.

Our students graduate prepared for a wide variety of fulfilling, stimulating, and financially rewarding career paths including public, corporate, governmental, and non-profit accounting. Personal financial planning, banking, and business management or ownership are also avenues pursued by our accounting majors.

Business Administration


Westminster’s Business Administration major prepares you for success in the business world. Our students learn about all aspects of business and often choose to a minor or concentration to specify their skill sets. With internship opportunities to gain the real-world experience that employers crave and variety of minor options, Westminster graduates enter the workforce prepared to face the challenging and dynamic business climate.

Business Administration students graduate with foundational knowledge in accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, as well as a deep understanding of the importance of the ethical requirements of business activities. As a result, our graduates have found success in a wide array of positions, including CEOs, HR managers, corporate buyers, financial analysts, and marketing managers. You can also be on the fast-track to an MBA through a special Bachelor's Degree Plus Program.

Entrepreneurship (Minor)


The Entrepreneurship minor is intended to introduce you to the basic concepts and tools necessary to think entrepreneurially, identify opportunities, and acquire knowledge about how to convert and pursue opportunities. The program of study focuses on the development of the skills necessary to introduce and commercialize ideas. It is designed to prepare you to start your own venture, work in an established company as an entrapreneur, or work with other entrepreneurs.

Students also have access to the Westminster Entrepreneurship Center (WEC), which allows students to practice what they learn in the classroom through leadership collaboration, dynamic entrepreneurial engagements, and competitions and events that offer unparalleled practical experiences.

Finance


Finance is an exciting and dynamic major that helps students understand the inner financial workings of small and large businesses, and become adept in personal financial planning. As a finance major at Westminster, you will learn about investments, money and banking, personal finance, and financial modeling. You will have opportunities to invest actual money in the Titan Endowment Practicum, work in the finance field in an internship, and learn to how to evaluate corporate credit from finance professionals.

Career pathways for Finance majors include financial planner, chief financial officer, investment banker, stockbroker, loan officer, finance director, and personal financial advisor. You can also be on the fast-track to an MBA through our 4+1 Bachelor's Degree Plus Program.

Human Resources Management


Human Resource Management is a critical component of all successful organizations, encompassing talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, training and development, total rewards, workforce management, labor relations, diversity and inclusion, risk management, strategic planning, and more. The Human Resource Management major at Westminster College combines general HR courses with courses covering related topics such as management, leadership, law, organizational behavior, strategy, and information technology.

The overall objective of the program is to developing knowledgeable, skilled, and competent HR professionals who are prepared for the rapid and ever-changing global workplace. Our program will prepare you to add value; address, and solve organizational problems; meet major long-term business objectives; and drive organizational strategy from a legal, ethical, and long-term planning perspective. Marketing & Professional Sales


At Westminster College, students that choose Marketing & Professional Sales as their major develop the practical skills needed to bring products or services to market. Our professors have deep industry experience and they emphasize both theoretical concepts and real-world applications.

As a Marketing & Professional Sales major, you will work with actual business clients and put your sales and marketing skills to the test through our Entrepreneurship Center’s program that assists small businesses. You can also gain valuable experience via our internship opportunities. Recent graduates report that these experiences have made all the difference to their success in landing their first marketing jobs. Sports Management


As a Sports Management major, you will benefit from a curriculum that blends business courses with a focus on experiential learning with multiple resume-building practicum and internship opportunities. Because Westminster is located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, our students are within easy driving distance of not only numerous professional sports teams, but also of other significant sports organizations, including the Dick’s Sporting Good corporate headquarters, Little League International, and the NFL Hall of Fame.

Career opportunities for Sports Management graduates are varied, ranging from working with professional sports teams on the team side (scouting, operations, coaching, etc.) or on the business side (marketing, human resources, facilities management, etc.) to working with non-profits (YMCA; Boys & Girls' Club; Big Brothers, Big Sisters; etc.) to working for sports retail corporations (equipment, apparel, nutrition, etc.). Many Sports Management students take advantage of Westminster's 4+1 Bachelor's Degree Plus Program, through which you can earn an MBA in as little as one year.

Supply Chain Management (Concentration)


Supply chain management is an essential part of business success. It includes the active management of the entire process of transforming raw materials into a final product flow of goods and services and includes all processes that transform raw materials into final products as well as those processes involved in getting those final products to customers.

This independent concentration, which may be declared by students of any major, provides real-world skills, including how to analyze real supply chains to identify strengths and inefficiencies, and the ability to design and implement a full supply chain.

Master of Business Administration


Westminster's Master of Business Administration (MBA) was designed with you in mind. Our 10-course program drills down on real-world business issues that future executives need to know, ranging from finance to marketing to human resources. The foundation of the program is a seven-course Core Program, to which you add three additional courses in a specific concentration. Westminster currently offers four concentrations: Management, Business and Data Analytics, Health Care Management, and Sustainability (Green MBA).

The only prerequisite for admission to the program is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. But, as a Westminster undergraduate, you can get a head start on your MBA, beginning your graduate-level coursework during the second semester of your senior year, through our Bachelor's Degree Plus Program.

Interdisciplinary Programs


 

International Business


Westminster’s International Business major will prepare you for the exciting and fast-paced world of international business. This interdisciplinary degree will equip you to work in our global economy. The combination of courses from business, modern languages, economics, mathematics, political science, and international cultures/religions creates a dynamic degree for students interested in business and international travel. All International Business majors also participate in an approved study abroad experience.

Students in this program graduate with a background in the international aspects of economics and business and a proficiency in a second language, with special emphasis on the concepts of management, marketing, and finance.

Environmental Studies


With this flexible interdisciplinary major, students combine environmental studies coursework with a second discipline of their choice to work on problems of the environment. For example, students could combine environmental studies with Business to prepare for a career with a green corporation or as an environmental entrepreneur. Students interested in environmental law could also apply to start law school at the end of their junior year through one of our Bachelor’s Degree Plus Programs.

As an Environmental Studies major, you will benefit from hands-on, collaborative learning and partner with local and regional environmental organizations and businesses to work on real-world environmental problems. A required internship and team-based capstone gives our students the skills for success in careers and graduate school. As a bonus, we get to study the environment on our expansive and diverse 300-acre campus.

Individual Interdisciplinary Major


The Individual Interdisciplinary major allows students to design their own majors. Students identify a core of course work in one program of study (major or minor), and then add coursework from other disciplines to craft an educational experience as unique as their ambitions.

Bachelor's Degree Plus Programs


 

Bachelor’s Degree + MBA (4+1 Program)


As a Westminster undergraduate student, you can get a headstart on your Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree by beginning your master's coursework during the second semester of your senior year.

Available to qualifying Westminster students with any major, our MBA program emphasizes real-world business issues integrating communication, accounting, finance, marketing, law, ethics, operations management and human resources in order to prepare you to thoughtfully and ethically lead in public and private sector organizations. The program offers students the choice of four concentrations: Management, Business Analytics, Healthcare Management, or Green MBA/Sustainability.

Bachelor's Degree + Law Degree (3+3 Programs)


In addition to having access to our robust 4-year Pre-Law Program, students interested in law could start law school at the end of their junior year through our partnerships with Widener University Commonwealth Law School and Duquesne University School of Law. Through these partnership, eligible students earn both a bachelor's degree and a juris doctor (J.D.) degree in just six years, saving time and money.
