Open to all academic disciplines, the Analyst Program is an interdisciplinary, experiential learning program designed to mirror the training and development progression of an associate analyst working for a Wall Street financial institution. The program provides students with an opportunity to learn about business models, prepare case studies, and make presentations. Students work with a team of faculty and advisors drawn from relevant fields to provide a realistic analytical experience. The program is conducted remotely via Zoom during the winter and summer months and culminates with a final presentation to a group of qualified professionals. The program also arranges speakers, site visits, and other events to enhance the educational experience.
In addition to built-in professional development and networking activities, the Analyst Program assists students in developing knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies associated with the following areas: Financial and quantitative analysis, SWOT analysis, ESG and sustainability frameworks, teamwork and leadership, and general business acumen. While the program utilizes a team-based approach generally encompassing the areas of strategy, investment, sustainability, data, and cybersecurity, customizable teams are encouraged based on program participants' areas of interest. Further collaborative engagement opportunities are available through the program's Big 10 partnership with Rutger's University.
Formalized into public events in 2020, the Analyst Program Speaker Series hosts a variety of events and speakers, including executives, academics, and other experts in a wide range of fields, to support students participating in Westminster's Analyst Program and the broader campus community. The program is further supported and enhanced via the involvement of Westminster’s History Alumni Advisory Council, which supports the college’s history program by advising on best practices in relevant fields, supporting experiential learning programs, and developing internship and research pipelines.
