NEW WILMINGTON, PA — In celebration of International Girls Day in November, sisters from Westminster College’s Kappa Delta sorority hosted a STEAM event for area Girl Scouts, hoping to broaden the young girls’ experiences and shrink the gender gap in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math.

The Tiny House at Westminster was built by a group of students and faculty to integrate sustainable living education with a multitude of majors and learning experiences. Students in the “Introduction to Sculpture” course had the opportunity to build sculptures inspired by the Tiny House and had a public viewing to showcase their work on Friday, May 4.

Westminster’s Foster Art Gallery is the third stop of the “Crowns” touring art exhibition featuring the work of eight ceramic artists. From April 3 to May 4, eight different artists’ pottery, sculptures and mixed-media works that reflect on the experiences of motherhood will be available for viewing.
