Westminster College’s online student newspaper, The Holcad, has named Emilly Tallis as the editor-in-chief for the 2026-2027 academic year.

A sophomore creative media production and strategic communication and social media double major from Butler, Pa., Tallis will lead weekly Holcad meetings, proof stories written by student contributors and work closely with Brad Weaver, School of Communication faculty member and Holcad faculty adviser.

Tallis is active within several campus organizations, with a focus on communications and media production. In addition to interning with Westminster’s Department of Athletics as a content creation intern, she creates graphics for sports and community events as the social media coordinator for Westminster College Network (WCN). She also serves as Kappa Delta director of philanthropy and community service, planning events and supporting initiatives for organizations such as Arise, Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse America.

“I applied for this role because I want to continue the passion and care for The Holcad that past editors have,” Tallis said. “I am most excited for the opportunity to be the editor and to work with a team of people just as motivated as I am.”

The Holcad has served as Westminster’s weekly student newspaper since 1884. It contains news, reviews and editorials covering campus life, as well as national and international events relevant to students.
