Westminster College’s School of Music will present the choral concert “I’ll Sing On” at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
The performance will feature Westminster’s Treble Choir, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, all under the direction of Dr. Ryan Keeling, assistant professor of music, in a program that blends traditional masterworks with contemporary choral pieces. The concert includes music by Andrea Ramsey, Susan LaBarr, Ludwig van Beethoven, Adolphus Hailstork, Katerina Gimon and others.
Highlights of the program include Ramsey’s “Lineage,” LaBarr’s “Where the Light Begins,” Beethoven’s “Elegischer Gesang” and Hailstork’s “Break Forth,” alongside a variety of arrangements and new works showcasing the ensembles’ range and versatility.
Student conductor Maysen Stewart, a senior music education major from Butler, Pa., will lead the Treble Choir in a selection, while Benjamin Burke, a senior music education and instrumental music performance double major from Crafton, Pa., will conduct a work with the Concert Choir.
Student soloists featured throughout the program include:
• Alexandria Bender, a senior biology major and honors student from New Castle, Pa.
• Abby Christy, a junior chemistry major from Mercer, Pa.
• Liam Chute, a senior music education major from Farrell, Pa.
• Minnie Dischert, a senior double majoring in psychology and music from Hermitage, Pa.
• Anna Hall, a junior music education major from Carnegie, Pa.
• Amelia Klinar, a junior double majoring in strategic communication and social media and music from Canonsburg, Pa.
• Nolan Lapikas, a sophomore biology major from Sharpsville, Pa.
• Ryan Lucas, a sophomore double majoring in music education and music business from Clairton, Pa.
• Kristalyn Merat, a sophomore music composition major from Sharpsville, Pa.
• Veronica Miller, a first-year early childhood/special education major from Petrolia, Pa.
• Brenton Rahman, a first-year music education major from Canonsburg, Pa.
• Sophia Smith, a first-year honors student double majoring in music education and vocal music performance from Dayton, Pa.
• Alexandra Webster, a senior music education major from Oil City, Pa.
• Tyler Wittmann, a junior honors student double majoring in religion and philosophy and music from New Castle, Pa.
The concert is free and open to the public.
