A 2023 accounting graduate, Ryan Greer has launched an early career that blends professional growth with his passion for lacrosse. His field experience at Westminster, both in Professor Ligo’s hands-on, real-world learning environment and on the Titan lacrosse field, helped shape him into the leader he is today. As a coach, Greer uses his experience to help make a meaningful impression on young athletes while continuing to fuel his own professional goals.

Tell us about your career path since graduating from Westminster in 2023.

After graduating from Westminster, I accepted a role at Westinghouse Electric Company under their Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP). This program allows me to rotate throughout finance and accounting roles every nine months. I've rotated through global financial control, accounts payable, and long-term operations. I am currently in my last rotation in the program, which is outage and maintenance services. I am also in the first semester of an MBA program.

You were recently named head boys lacrosse coach at Seneca Valley High School.....when did you realize you wanted to be a coach?

After serving as a JV coach for the past two years, I was named head varsity lacrosse coach of my alma mater, Seneca Valley, in August of 2025. On top of that, I am the head coach for the 2031 graduating year double-A team for the biggest lacrosse club in Pittsburgh, Iron City Lacrosse Club. At the end of the summer, we were ranked #56 in the country!

I realized quickly upon graduation that I wanted to keep lacrosse in my life. Getting to coach high schoolers, as well as young kids, allows me to have a positive impact during the most impressionable years of their life. Coaching lacrosse is something that I have been very enthusiastic about since I get to positively contribute my knowledge and experience to the younger generation.

Reflecting on your time at Westminster, what classes or people made an impact on your life?

A professor who has made a significant impact on my life is Jesse Ligo. Professor Ligo had the biggest impact on my time at Westminster due to his incredible support, not only in the classroom, but outside as well. He challenged us to think creatively and used real world examples for us to better understand the material. Not only that, but I was prepared to join the workforce due to the classes and material covered throughout my four years of education with Ligo.

What drew you to WC and your accounting major?

I knew early on that I wanted to attend a small school due to the small class size and professors who were really involved with my personal growth. In addition, I wanted to keep playing the sport I loved at a competitive level and compete for a conference championship. Westminster allowed me to do both of those and pushed me to be the best version of myself.

When it comes to accounting, I always knew that I wanted to do something in business and when I went on a tour of Westminster with the lacrosse coach, I met with a business professor who stated that accounting is the “language of business”. This opened my eyes to the world of accounting and how essential it is in every single business.

If you have any free time……what do you do for fun?

For fun, outside of coaching lacrosse, I like to golf, spend time with my family, and play on our Westminster Alumni men’s league lacrosse team! Ben Romah '21 and myself created the team that is made up of Westminster alumni living in Pittsburgh. We play in the ULAX Pittsburgh league. In this picture, 16 of the 21 people are Westminster alumni or current WC seniors. Our team's name is "Pride of Patty" which originates from Patrick Geiger who was the first coach of WC men's lacrosse.
