Westminster College's Faculty Forum continues with a discussion on "Bat Conservation in India" led by Dr. Shahroukh Mistry, assistant professor of biology, Wednesday, March 10, at 11:30 a.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center Theater.
"I will discuss issues related to conserving biodiversity in developing countries such as India, and especially the difficulties in protecting species, like bats, that are considered vermin," Mistry said. "I'll also describe what banana margaritas have to do with preventing strokes."
Thirteen Westminster College students are studying in Argentina, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, and Pittsburgh during the fall semester.
Dr. Martha Joseph, assistant professor of chemistry at Westminster College, will present her research at Faculty Forum Wednesday, March 5, at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 131.
Stanton Fleming, former network administrator for General Nutrition Center in Pittsburgh, has been hired as coordinator of user and desktop services at Westminster College.
"Westminster College Information Systems is excited to welcome Stanton Fleming to our staff," said Paul Wallace, director of information systems at Westminster. "We looked forward to working with him, and expect to benefit from his experience as the campus moves forward."
Dr. Timothy Cuff, Westminster College assistant professor of history, recently attended the Social Science History Association meeting in Minneapolis where he presented his paper, "Takin' It to the Streets: One Person's Quest for a Wider Audience for Anthropometric History."
Cory Mathias, a Westminster College junior biology major, recently completed a 12-week summer research training program at the University of Pittsburgh. Funding was provided by the National Institutes of Health.
Kimberly Hasara, a Westminster College junior music performance major, and Amber Kunder, a senior music education and elementary education major, will present a recital Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
Tara Pregibon, a Westminster College senior biochemistry major, received an undergraduate research grant from Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Bryan Rennie, Westminster College professor and chair of the Department of Religion, History, Philosophy and Classics, delivered a paper at the ninth annual conference of the European Association for the Study of Religions (EASR) Sept. 14-17 at Messina University in Italy.
Dr. Andrew Ade, Westminster College associate professor of English, has won Residency Fellowships at two different artist colonies this summer.
