Music Students to Perform Recital

Kimberly Hasara, a Westminster College junior music performance major, and Amber Kunder, a senior music education and elementary education major, will present a recital Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

Hasara's junior capstone vocal program includes George Friedrich Handel's "Oh! Had I Jubal's Lyre" from Joshua, Süße Stille, sanfte Quelle, for which Kunder will provide accompaniment; Antonio Vivaldi's Vieni, Vieni; Vincenzo Bellini's Malinconia, ninfa gentile; Robert Schumann's Der Nussbaum; Clara Schumann's Liebst du um Schönheit; Charles Gounod's "Ah! Je ris de me voir" from Faust; Richard Hundley's Screw Spring; and William Bolcom's Amor. She will be accompanied by J.P. Scanga, a junior music education major from Sharpsville; Kevin Shields, a junior music education major from Eldred; and Stephen Marks, drum instructor at Marks Music in Hermitage, for Harold Arlen's Blues in the Night.

Hasara, a graduate of Avonworth High School, is a daughter of Jim and Karen Hasara of Pittsburgh.

She studies voice at Westminster with Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, Westminster College associate professor of music. Hasara participates in Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Mu Phi Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, Opera Westminster, and is a teacher with the Westminster College Music Intern Teaching Program.

Kunder's senior capstone instrumental recital includes Friedrich Kulau's Variations on The Last Rose of Summer; Henri Dutilleux's Sonatine; Michel Blavet's Sonata No. 1 L'Henriette; and Franz Doppler's Andante and Rondo, Op. 25.

Kunder, a graduate of Boardman High School, is a daughter of David and Teresa Kunder of Poland, Ohio.

She studied at Westminster with David Tessmer, Westminster College adjunct music faculty, who will join her for Andante and Rondo.

At Westminster, Kunder was involved in Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Marching Band, Women's Choir, Woodwind Quintet, Flute Choir, Handbell Choir, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Sigma Pi, Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Phi Omega, PCMEA, ACDA, and Sigma Kappa sorority. She gives flute lessons through the Westminster College Music Intern Teaching Program and is an intern at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church.

Kathryn Miller, Westminster College adjunct music faculty and College organist, will accompany both Hasara and Kunder.
