The Marge Walker Recreation Center at Westminster College will be dedicated Friday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in Old 77.

The Center includes cardiovascular aerobic equipment such as stationary bicycles, eliptical machines, treadmills, and stair climbers. Patrons can enjoy watching television, video tapes, or listening to the stereo in this spa-like environment. It also features a dance studio.

"The Marge Walker Recreation Center enhances the fitness opportunities of our students, staff, and alumni, said Jim Dafler, director of athletics at Westminster College. "The dance studio will also be a great resource for the many yoga and aerobic classes offered to area residents."

The Marge Walker Recreation Center complements the state-of-the-art weight and fitness training facility at the Memorial Field House.

Marjorie A. Walker, professor of physical education emerita, worked at Westminster from 1962-1993. She served not only as professor of education, but also as chair of the department, associate director of athletics, basketball coach, tennis coach and head volleyball coach with an overall record of 341-277. While at Westminster, Walker also served as advisor for the Student Government Association, Panhellenic Council, cheerleaders, majorettes and drill team.

Walker was two-time District Coach of the Year, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society, past president of the Women's Keystone Conference, chair of the NAIA District volleyball and softball coaches association, and received the Virginia Napoli Award for Outstanding Professional Service.

The dedication is open to the public. An open house will follow the dedication at 6:15 p.m., and tours will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information about the Marge Walker Recreation Center, contact Dafler at (724) 946-7313 or e-mail daflerje@westminster.edu.
