Westminster College Presents “A Spring Music Concert: A Friends of Music Gala Concert”

Westminster College presents "A Spring Music Festival: A Friends of Music Gala Concert" on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium at Westminster College. There will be performances from the Westminster College Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Singers and Westminster College Symphony Orchestra. The music festival is free and open to all.

Under the direction of Dr. Timothy Winfield, the Westminster College Jazz ensemble will perform two numbers; Baylock’s El Abrazo and Nestico’s Wind Machine. Accompanied by the Westminster College Chamber singers, the jazz ensemble will perform classic numbers such as Blue Moon featuring soloist Jace Armentrout and As Time Goes By featuring soloists Olivia Schmidt and Kaylee Krug.

The Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Samuel Barbara, will perform a medley of I Love You and What A Wonderful World. Their second musical selection will be Unclouded Day by Fred Johnson.

Under the direction of Dr. Melinda H. Crawford Perttu, the Westminster College Symphony Orchestra will perform: Dvořák - Polka in B-flat; Sibelius – Finlandia; Shore/Whitney - Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring featuring Rhainnon Griffiths, soprano; Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 3 in c: Allegro con brio featuring Joseph Bandi, piano; Mozart - Vedrai carino from "Don Giovanni" featuring Lauren Faber, soprano.

Performing alongside the orchestra are Westminster College Concerto and Aria competition winners, Joseph Bandi and Lauren Faber. Bandi is a current senior working on a dual degree in Music Education and Piano Performance, studying in the studio of Dr. Nancy DeSalvo. Lauren Faber is currently a sophomore vocal performance and communications double major.

There will be a casual cookie and punch reception following the concert in Orr Lobby.
