The Community College of Allegheny County and Westminster College have entered into a collaborative agreement to facilitate the transfer of CCAC students into seven baccalaureate programs at the private liberal arts college located in New Wilmington, Pa. The presidents of CCAC and Westminster College finalized the agreement with a signing ceremony on Wednesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. in Byers Hall on CCAC’s Allegheny Campus.

The articulation agreement, the first such collaboration between CCAC and Westminster College, provides students who earn an associate degree an academic pathway to transfer into a parallel bachelor’s degree program at Westminster College. The agreement, which takes effect immediately for graduates who have met the requirements of programs in the current catalog, will facilitate the transfer of CCAC students into the following baccalaureate programs: Accounting, Business, Biology, Criminal Justice Studies, Psychology, Theatre, and Early Childhood/Special Education.

“Today, the Community College of Allegheny County and Westminster College have entered into a truly historic agreement, one which creates the foundation for a strategic and dynamic partnership between our two great institutions and will enable graduates of some of CCAC’s most popular associate degree programs the opportunity to seamlessly transfer to Westminster in order to further their educational goals,” said CCAC President Dr. Quintin B. Bullock. “Through our shared commitment to quality educational programming, we are helping to ensure that future graduates have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive and changing world.”

Westminster College President Richard H. Dorman said, “Westminster College is excited to partner with the Community College of Allegheny County in this important initiative that will expand the higher education options for many students wishing to study in a variety of academic fields. As today’s students seek greater flexibility as they appraise the higher education choices available to them, this agreement provides improved access and affordability to achieve a quality education through this partnership of two outstanding institutions. We hope that many students take full advantage of the opportunities this agreement now presents.”

The coordination of transferable coursework, supported through academic advising, will help ensure a successful transition. Students are encouraged to work with CCAC and Westminster counselors to carefully plan their course of study. When transferring, CCAC students must apply for admission, submit required transcripts and meet Westminster’s admissions requirements.
