The Westminster College Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of the season, “With my Head in the Clouds,” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on the College’s campus.

Under the direction of Aaron Himes, director of bands, coordinator of music education and instructor of music, the ensemble will perform a concert that showcases three student conductors and includes the world premiere of “With my Head in the Clouds,” among other pieces.

Composer Isaac Boone originally wrote “With My Head in the Clouds” as a saxophone ensemble. Himes commissioned a wind ensemble arrangement, which will be performed for the first time at the concert.

Students competed for the opportunity to lead the ensemble and three were selected: Ryan Shaw, a senior music education major from Pittsburgh, Tim Mulcahy, a senior music education major from Bradford, Pa., and Shannon Witkouski, a senior music education major from Beaver, Pa.

Faculty member and flutist Alyssa Pysola will perform a solo of “The Lark Ascending” by Ralph Vaughan Williams during the performance.
