Westminster College to Host One Hundred and Sixty-second Baccalaureate and Commencement Ceremonies, May 14

More than 315 students are expected to earn degrees Saturday, May 14 at Westminster College’s 162nd commencement ceremonies.

The baccalaureate service will be held at 10 a.m. in William W. Orr Auditorium and the commencement ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. inside the Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

The baccalaureate message, “Wow! What a Sandbox!”, will be given by the Rev. Dr. Ted Martin ’85, senior pastor of Hampton Presbyterian Church.

Martin earned a degree in Christian education and elementary education from Westminster and later earned a master of divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He served with Habitat for Humanity following graduation, cycling 5,300 miles across the U.S. raising money to launch new Habitat sites.

Olivia Martin was selected by the 2016 senior class to give the senior address during commencement. An English and fine art double major, Martin is a daughter of James and Jennifer Martin and a graduate of Lakeview High School.

The commencement ceremony will include the conferring of an honorary doctorate, Doctor of Business Administration, honoris causa to George Berlin.

“As a former chairman of Board of Trustees, offering extensive service on the Board, and as one of Westminster’s most generous benefactors over the years, Mr. Berlin has been a transformational figure in the history of Westminster, and the campus community joins together in recognizing his many contributions,” said Dr. Richard H. Dorman, Westminster College’s president.

In case of rain, the commencement ceremony will be held in Memorial Field House.

The ceremonies will be broadcasted live on wcnlive.com, Armstrong (channel 72 in New Wilmington and channel 204 in Grove City), and Comcast (Channel 183 in New Castle). Stay connected on social media by using and searching #WCGRAD2016.
