Dr. David Offner, associate professor of mathematics and Westminster students Charles Cratty, Torey DeAngelis, and Kia Howe attended the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Regional Conference and Exposition in Atlantic City, NJ on October 21-23, 2015.

The NCTM is the premier national organization for mathematics teachers. Thousands of mathematics educators gathered in Atlantic City to network and discuss the latest topics in mathematics education.

The students were exposed to a wide range of information about the profession and met teachers and other educators who will be their future colleagues. They attended sessions on teaching particular topics in algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus, and using technology and manipulatives in the classroom. Other sessions focused on the Common Core standards for mathematics education. They also attended a session specially designed for people entering the profession and met with pre-service teachers from other schools throughout the east coast.
