Westminster College is expecting nearly 350 alumni, students and guests at the annual Professional Networking Symposium, September 19. The event is open to the public.

At 8:15 a.m., the registration and career fair will begin in Orr Auditorium Lobby, with 9 a.m. opening remarks in Beeghly Theater given by Dr. Jane Wood, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College; Matthew Stinson, vice president for institutional advancement; and Dr. Daniel Fischmar, co-creator of the symposium and professor of economics.

“The Professional Networking Symposium is a unique event due to the large alumni participation, the breakout sessions, and the opportunities for meaningful connections between alumni and students,” said Katy DeMedal, director of the Career Center.

Four prominent tracks will encompass approximately 25 specialty panels featuring areas of business, coordinated by Fischmar; humanities and social sciences, facilitated by Dr. Russell Martin, professor of history; STEM, led by Dr. Peter Smith, professor of chemistry and chair of the biological, chemical and environmental sciences division; and a professional track, featuring continuing career development services. Sessions will be held in various locations throughout Patterson Hall, Beeghly Theater and the McKelvey Campus Center.

Westminster is expecting representation from close to 90 companies, including but not limited to: Carnegie Museum, CONSOL Energy, U.S. Department of Defense, Ernst & Young, Giant Eagle, IBM, McCormick Theological Seminary, Moody’s, Ohio Valley Hospital, Penn State University, Rutgers University, Springfield Restaurant Group, Steelite International, UPMC, and US Steel.
