Each year for close to three decades, U.S. News & World Report has gathered, ranked and presented data of nearly 1,400 colleges and universities nation-wide. Today, they released their 2016 ranking, placing Westminster College as 125th “Best Liberal Arts College” in the nation.
“This ranking demonstrates that Westminster has a reputation which is highly recognized by organizations in the mainstream media,” said Dr. Thomas H. Stein, vice president for enrollment and marketing at Westminster.
The ranking, used to “steer students in the right direction during their college search,” is based upon the following criteria: assessment of excellence, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance, and alumni giving rate.
According to U.S. News & World Report, those standards are important in assessing a potential college, combined with “college visits, interviews, and personal intuition.”
“Westminster has been working hard to create an environment that is attractive to students, both regionally and globally,” continued Stein. “Our effectiveness is reflected in our positive student outcomes, high retention rates and outstanding alumni support.”
In addition, Westminster was listed among national colleges and universities in a list of “high school counselors’ top college picks,” based on a national survey of high school guidance counselors.
