Bands to Present "A Senior Celebration" May 4

The Westminster College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present "A Senior Celebration" Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The Wind Ensemble will perform "Punchinello" by Alfred Reed, "Sanctuary" by Frank Ticheli, and "Music for a Festival" by Philip Sparke.

The Symphonic Band's selections include: Johan de Meij's "Gandalf" from Symphony #1, Lord of the Rings; "First Suite in E? for Military Band" by Gustav Holst; Ticheli's "Shenandoah;" and "Symphonic Dance #3" by Clifton Williams.

The combined bands will conclude the program with W. J. Duthoit's arrangement of "Crown Imperial" by William Walton, featuring music librarian Michele Garman as organist; and Cormac Cannon's arrangement of "Alma Mater."

The bands are under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig, associate professor and chair of Westminster's Department of Music.

Greig, who has been with Westminster since 1995, earned an undergraduate degree from Grove City College, master's degree from Youngstown State University, and Ph.D. from Kent State University.
