Westminster College senior political science major Alex Scull received a fellowship from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP). 

Scull is one of 10 students nationwide to receive a CASE ASAP fellowship and one of two to earn the newly created Career Fellowship.  The new program will launch in January and is designed to offer hands-on experience for those students considering an advancement career.

"I think the fellowship will give me a leg up on the competition as I leave Westminster, as well as give me an even deeper understanding of the career path I look to follow," Scull said.  "I plan someday to be an administrator for a great school like Westminster and I like to think this fellowship is a way to put me on a path to meet that goal."

The fellowship provides a $2,000 paid internship in Westminster's Institutional Advancement Office, where Scull will work in fundraising, alumni relations, communications, or marketing.  In addition, he will receive up to $1,000 sponsorship to attend a CASE district conference, participation in a CASE webinar, and an advancement book to introduce fellows to the field.

"I thank Westminster President Dr. Richard Dorman, Gloria Cagigas [vice president for institutional advancement], and all the others here who have helped me reach my potential and see my future," Scull said.

Scull is a member of Westminster's Student Alumni Association that belongs to CASE ASAP's District II.  He serves as president of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and student assistant coach of the softball team and is a member of Westminster's Student Government Association; Model United Nations; Planning, Budgeting, and Institutional Resource Council; and Student Westminster Admissions Team. 

Scull is a son of Thomas and Stephanie Scull of DuBois and a graduate of DuBois Area High School.
