Senior to Present Voice Recital Sept. 18

Westminster College music education major Nicholas Popovich will present his senior voice recital Sunday, Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.  The program is free and open to the public.

Popovich, a baritone, will be accompanied by Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, Westminster associate professor of music.

Selections include: Cavalli's Sospiri di foco (Sighs of Fire); Bach's Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt (God Loved the World); Gounod's "Avant de quitter ces lieux" ("Before Leaving This Place") from Faust; Fauré's Les Berceaux (The Cradles); Schubert's "Frühlingstraum" ("A Dream of Springtime") from Winterreise (Winter Journey); Puccini's "Questo amor, vergogna mia" ("This Love, My Shame") from Edgar; Ives' The Cage; Sondheim's "Johanna" from Sweeney Todd; and Weil's "Thousands of Miles" from Lost in the Stars.

At Westminster, Popovich has been involved in Titan Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Men's Chorus, Concert Choir, and Opera Workshop.  He is treasurer of Mu Phi Epsilon music honor fraternity, vice president of American Choral Directors Association, president of Theta Chi fraternity, and a member of Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, Inter-Fraternity Council, Who's Who among American Universities and Colleges, Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society, and Pi Sigma Pi honor society. 

Popovich is a son of Joseph and Gina Popovich of Canfield, Ohio, and a graduate of Canfield High School.
