Westminster College alumna and lecturer Kandice Hartner ’12 has been recognized as one of Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
Hartner, a faculty member in Westminster’s School of Communication, was honored at the organization’s recognition event on Sept. 26, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest program. Since learning of her selection in April, Hartner has raised more than $8,500 in support of the foundation’s mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease.
Cystic fibrosis is a cause close to Hartner’s heart—her youngest sister, Claire, was born with the condition in 2003. Since then, Hartner has been a passionate advocate, fundraiser and volunteer for cystic fibrosis awareness and research.
Beyond her work with the foundation, Hartner is deeply engaged in community service and serves as president of the New Wilmington Rotary Club.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized among Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest,” said Hartner. “The work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is personal to me, and I’m grateful to be part of a community dedicated to making a difference for families like mine.”
Hartner joined the Westminster faculty in 2020 after serving as an adjunct since 2016. She holds two master’s degrees from Chatham University and teaches courses in graphic design, publication design, digital photography, digital video, branding and animation.
