Shannon Witkouski, a senior Westminster College percussionist, will present her senior capstone recital at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on the College’s campus.

Witkouski, a music education and performance double major from Beaver, Pa., will perform works by Áskell Másson, Michael Burritt, William Cahn, Ivan Trevino, Brett W. Dietz and George Gershwin.

“This program is filled with music that I wanted to expose the audience to and that would not commonly be performed,” said Witkouski. “All pieces fall under the question of ‘What is music?’”

An accomplished percussionist, Witkouski is a freelance performer across the region and serves as a clinician and instructor for the drumline and front ensemble at Blackhawk High School. She was also selected as one of only 33 students worldwide to serve on the Percussive Arts Society’s University Student Committee.

Witkouski will be accompanied by Jeff Wachter, a School of Music faculty member. Additional performers include the Westminster College Percussion Ensemble with senior music education majors Ryan Bramson from Springdale, Pa., and Ryan Shaw from Pittsburgh, and Lauren McTierman, a senior education major from Venus, Pa.

This capstone recital is partial fulfillment of the Bachelor of Music degree requirements for music education majors.

The recital is free and open to the public.
