The Westminster College chapter of Amnesty International is sponsoring "Open Mic Night" Friday, Nov. 17, from 8-10:30 p.m. at the Berlin Student Lounge located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

"Anyone is welcome to come and share music, poetry, jokes, etc.," said Jelena Gerga, a junior international politics major from Lakewood, Ohio, and president of this Amnesty International chapter. "Karaoke will also be available. Musicians are welcome to bring and sell their merchandise, and there will be snacks and refreshments for all.

"Donations will be taken at the door to raise money for mosquito nets to stop the malaria epidemic in Africa and for the Sudan crisis. Amnesty will also be selling hand-crafted bracelets."

The Westminster chapter of Amnesty International was started by students and faculty in 2003 to promote human rights and social justice.
