Westminster College Employees Recognized for Over 560 Years of Service

Westminster College employees were recognized for over 560 years of service during the annual employee recognition luncheon May 8 in Russell Dining Hall.

"The event was attended by a record number of  people - 236," said Kim Christofferson, director of human resources.  "Maybe next year we'll have to move it to the Witherspoon room of our new Campus Center.  It will seat 300."

Retiring from Westminster are: Dr. Keen Compher, Jr., associate professor of biology since 1993; Dr. James Cummins, professor of Spanish since 1963; Dr. Ronald Galbreath, professor of physical education since 1974; Patricia Graney, head cashier since 1989; Dr. Frederick Horn, professor of English since 1966; and Dr. Kenneth Long, professor of chemistry since 1962.

Other honorees were:

40 years of service - Ronald Bergey, professor of accounting.

35 years of service - Dr. Philip Fawley, professor of biology; Liza Green Sodexho Dining Service cook; and Dr. Eugene Sharkey, professor of history.

25 years of service - Dr. Gary Lilly, associate professor of sociology; and Ralph Shelenberger, upholsterer.

20 years of service - Kimberlee Christofferson, director of human resources.

15 years of service - William Birkhead, vice president for finance and management services; Steven Connell, grounds supervisor; Michael Cosgrove, crafts supervisor; Evelyn DeSantis, Sodexho Dining Service snack bar cashier; Carol Eberhart, communication assistant; Leslie Kendall, coordinator of development computer operations; and Shawn Toomey, head athletic trainer.
 
10 years of service - Stacey Dando, Sodexho Dining Services baker; Kathy Flick, Sodexho Dining Services cook; Edward Galanski, electrician; Mary James, director of alumni relations; Mandy Medvin, associate professor of psychology; Joe Ann Miller, executive secretary; Deborah Mitchell, assistant professor of English and public relations; Carol Mounts, gifts processor; James Rhoads Jr., assistant professor of political science; Patricia Wallace, custodian; Jennifer Williams, director of the Westminster Fund; and Carol Yova, director of the Lifelong Learning Program/Continuing Education.
