Westminster College is helping area educators learn lessons outside of the classroom through the Lawrence County "School to Work" Program.

Westminster College's Molly Spinney, head librarian, Gary Swanson, director of audio-visual services, and Paul Wallace, director of information systems, were shadowed by Dave Altman, librarian at the Lawrence County Vo-Tech School this summer.

The program is designed to take educators out of the classroom and into different work settings where they can see applications of their classroom lessons.

"The educator returns to the classroom with some new ideas about what skills students really need," said Spinney. "As part of the program, the educator is required to develop a lesson plan using the information gained during the experience.

"This is the first time Westminster has participated in this program," continued Spinney. "It was a worthwhile experience."
