Four Westminster College Students Receive Literary Awards

Four Westminster College students received honorable mention in the East Central Colleges (ECC) Ninth Annual Student Literary Competition.

Jennifer Ombres, an English major from Freedom, was recognized for her poem "Birth." Ombres is a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Mario Ombres, 3080 Ridge Rd. Ext., and a graduate of Quigley High School.

Laura Stanley, an English major from Mt. Morris, N.Y., was recognized for her poem "Running Puddles." Stanley is a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. John Stanley, 38 Genesee St., and a graduate of Mount Morris Central High School.

Benjamin Tate, an English major from Salem, Ore., was recognized for his poem "Blink." Tate is a son of Mr. And Mrs. John Tate, 4526 Blue Sky Court NE, and a graduate of North Salem High School.

Jessica Toy, an English major from Sarver, was recognized for her poems "Details" and "Image of You." Toy is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Toy, 170 Elliot Rd., and a graduate of Freeport Area High School.

Winners were chosen from 184 entries from all nine ECC campuses, and were judged anonymously by faculty. All winners were published in the 200 ECC Literary Anthology.

The East Central Colleges are Bethany, Heidelberg, Hiram, Marietta, Mount Union, Muskingum, Otterbein, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Westminster.
