Westminster College has been named a 2026-2027 College of Distinction for the fifth consecutive year, earning national recognition as a Best Private College in the U.S., a Best College for Transfer Students and a Pennsylvania College of Distinction. The College also received program-specific honors for excellence in business, education and nursing.

The designation recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate excellence in undergraduate education through engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

Rather than relying on rankings based primarily on selectivity or institutional wealth, Colleges of Distinction evaluates schools through extensive research and interviews to identify institutions that provide a student-centered educational experience and prepare graduates for success after college.

“Today’s students are navigating a college landscape shaped by rising costs, rapid technological change and real uncertainty about the future of work,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “What they need from higher education isn't just a credential, but preparation for the world ahead. Westminster College delivers that through the kind of intentional, high-impact education that equips students for whatever comes next.”

The recognition reflects Westminster’s commitment to experiential learning, including undergraduate research, collaborative coursework, internships, service-learning opportunities and close faculty mentorship that encourage students to become active participants in their education.

Westminster also earned recognition as one of the nation’s Best Colleges for Transfer Students, honoring institutions that provide clear transfer pathways, strong academic advising and support systems that help transfer students thrive from enrollment through graduation.

“Transfer students bring with them real-world experience and fresh perspectives to campus. Too often, colleges and universities treat them as an afterthought in their programs and messaging," Schritter said. “Westminster College offers something different. What we have seen is an intentional investment in making their transfer students feel like they belong from day one.”

Additionally, Westminster was recognized as a Pennsylvania College of Distinction and received specialized honors for its undergraduate business, education and nursing programs.

The Business College of Distinction award recognizes undergraduate business programs that combine classroom learning with real-world experience while preparing students to lead with confidence, integrity and adaptability.

Westminster also was recognized as an Education College of Distinction for preparing future teachers through a combination of strong academic preparation, hands-on classroom experience and faculty mentorship.

As a Nursing College of Distinction, Westminster was recognized for providing students with rigorous academic preparation, hands-on clinical experiences and interdisciplinary learning that prepares graduates to excel in today’s healthcare environment.
