For 35 years, Westminster College’s Independence Day celebration has been a summer tradition for families throughout the region. On Friday, July 3, the College will once again welcome the community to Brittain Lake for an evening of live music, fireworks and family fun.
The free event begins at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by River City Brass Band, America’s only full-time professional brass band. Known for its energetic sound and patriotic repertoire, the ensemble will perform a number of American favorites as families gather along the lake.
The celebration culminates with a fireworks display by Pyrotecnico at approximately 9:15 p.m., illuminating the night sky above Westminster’s Brittain Lake.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy an evening outdoors with family and friends. Food vendors will be available on site, and free parking will be available throughout campus.
A free-will offering will be accepted.
Because of the event’s popularity, attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Visitors are asked to follow campus parking and traffic signage to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
In the event of rain, the concert will move to the Anderson Amphitheater.
