The Westminster College Celebrity Series will present the jazz rock Grammy Award-winning group Blood, Sweat & Tears (BS&T) at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium.

Formed in 1967, BS&T is noted for its combination of brass with rock instrumentation. While BS&T is not the first band to use a horn section, it is the first to fuse horns with rock, jazz, and some blues.

BS&T’s second album self-titled “Blood Sweat & Tears” was a success, rising to the top of the charts for seven weeks and yielding three top-five singles including, “God Bless the Child,” “Spinning Wheel” and “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.” The album received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1970, beating out The Beatles’ “Abbey Road.” That album went on to earn quadruple platinum status.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Celebrity Series Box Office at 724-946-7354 or visiting www.westminster.edu/celebrity.

The Westminster College Celebrity Series is partially funded by the Caroline Knox Memorial Trust Fund—Reflecting God’s light into the world.
