Several Westminster College students have been added to the 2003 Fall Dean's List. The Dean's List recognizes students who attain a grade point average of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.

Westminster Hosts Author's Perspectives on War in Iraq

Dr. Lindy Scott, author of "Terrorism in the War in Iraq: A Christian Word from Latin America," will speak Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
 
  Scott's presentation, "The War in Iraq: Insights from the Latin American Church," will focus on the Latin American Christian views about what should be done now and what should be learned from the war.  After his presentation, the program will be open for questions.

 Scott, currently an associate professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Wheaton (Ill.) College, earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University, masters' from Northwestern University and Trinity International University, and his Ph. D. from Northwestern University.  He taught for 15 years in universities and seminaries in Mexico, including the National Autonomous University of Mexico.  He has recently been appointed Director of Wheaton College's Center for Applied Christian Ethics.

 On sabbatical this year, Scott has spoken in the United States and abroad on a Christian response to terrorism, the war in Iraq, and international poverty.  His speaking engagements include: Princeton Seminary, Eastern University, Eastern Seminary, Fuller Seminary, Westmont College, Calvin College, and Azusa Pacific University.

Professional Resume Writer to Offer Advise to Westminster Seniors

Louise Kursmark, author and certified professional resume writer, will speak to Westminster College seniors Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Room located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

 Kursmark shares her focused expertise in writing for executive-level clients in her book, "Sales & Marketing Resumes for $100,000 Careers."  A nationally-published writer for both industry and general audiences, she has been a featured columnist in "Spotlight," the monthly newsletter of the Professional Association of Resume Writers, and is a frequent contributor to online career sites, as well as print publication which include The Wall Street Journal's "National Business Employment Weekly."

 Kursmark, who is also a job career transition coach and a credentialed career master, is a founding member of the Career Masters Institute, an Internet-based training and development organization for career professionals, and a member of the Association of Job Search Training, the National Resume Writers' Association, and the Professional Association of Resume Writers.
