It’s been what feels like decades since I’ve written, but it is time for me to begin regular weekly communication with you again. Over the next few weeks, I will be sending emails each Friday with updates and expectations for a successful Fall semester. We are really looking forward to having you back on campus. We are also very clear about what it will take for us to be able to do so and to remain open for the duration of the semester. Westminster will need to rely on the “We” like we’ve never done before. This means that each of us will need to do our part – follow the policies we’ve carefully crafted to keep everyone safe and healthy and provide support to one another. Community is what we do well. Community is why you chose Westminster. And community is what will make this work.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, postponed its traditional spring commencement ceremony. Instead, degrees were awarded to more than 200 students in a virtual degree conferral ceremony on Saturday, May 9. Seventy-five students earned Bachelor of Arts degrees, 115 earned Bachelor of Science degrees, four received Bachelor of Music degrees and 10 received Master of Education degrees.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Presidents’ Council has unanimously approved an intra-conference (conference-only) scheduling format for all varsity sports during the fall 2020 season. All fall sports except football now have a first contest date of Sept. 7, while football will begin its nine-game league schedule on Sept. 19. The decisions were made during a pair of virtual Presidents’ Council meetings in June.

A special project in Westminster College’s School of Education gives preservice teachers hands-on experience and a unique understanding of their role in helping children develop key reading and writing proficiencies.

Although the coronavirus pandemic delayed its traditional spring commencement ceremony, Westminster College will celebrate the Class of 2020 during a series of smaller, socially distant ceremonies on Saturday, Aug. 1.

Westminster College recently named 431 students to the Spring 2020 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List recognizes students who achieved a 3.6 grade point average or higher.

Westminster College is one of 101 colleges and universities from across the nation to win a prestigious 2020 Educational Fundraising Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

I am pleased to announce that New Student Orientation will take place August 14-16, and all first-year and transfer students will move in on Thursday, August 13. The Orientation model this year will include both in-person and virtual sessions. Though physically distanced, we are committed to providing an exciting, community-focused and informative Orientation program. A detailed orientation schedule will be communicated via email by August 1.
