Football Reunion: 1976 & 1977 National Championship Teams

When:

Saturday, October 10, 2026, 6:00 PM

Where:

Burry Stadium, Westminster College

We will celebrate two of the most successful teams in Westminster College football history—the 1976 and 1977 National Championship Titans.

Reconnect with teammates, coaches, classmates, and friends as we honor the players and staff who built a championship legacy that continues to inspire generations of Titans. Together, we'll celebrate the memories, camaraderie, and achievements of two teams that helped define Westminster football excellence.  A hospitality tent will be available beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the endzone of Burry Stadium, along with half-time recognition for both teams. Families are also invited.

Kickoff against Grove City will be at 7 p.m.

History of the Teams:

Fifty years ago, the 1976 Titans captured the College's second national championship during America's Bicentennial year, finishing with a 10-1 record and dominating their postseason opponents. After defeating Texas Lutheran 31-0 in the national semifinal, the Titans traveled to California and secured a 20-13 victory over the University of Redlands to bring the championship trophy back to New Wilmington.

The following season, the 1977 Titans cemented their place in college football history by completing a perfect 11-0 season and capturing Westminster's third national championship. In a thrilling semifinal victory over Concord College at Memorial Stadium, the Titans prevailed 14-13 before traveling to Thousand Oaks, California, where they defeated California Lutheran 17-9 to claim back-to-back national titles.
