Opportunities

Study Abroad

Students who are majoring in Spanish or French at Westminster College must complete 10 weeks of approved off-campus study. You can discover more about study abroad opportunities by contacting Dr. Jeff Bersett or by visiting the off-campus study program's website.

Departmental Scholarships

Each year the Modern Language department awards two scholarships to students who are studying language at Westminster College. The Ligo Scholarship is awarded annually to French majors who demonstrate excellence through their studies of French.

The Clemens Scholarship is awarded annually to students who excel in language study at Westminster.

Conversation Groups

Interested students are invited to attend either the Mesa Españ ola (Spanish Table) or the Table Française each week during the semester. These meetings provide students an opportunity to practice their language skills with other students and Modern Language faculty.

Honorary Societies

Collegiate foreign language honor societies provide opportunities outside the classroom for growth and understanding by bringing students together who major or minor in modern lanugages.

Sigma Delta Pi is the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society/La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica.

Pi Delta Phi is the French honorary society.
