Faculty members present how to prepare business, STEM students for workforce

Dr. Helen Boylan, director of Westminster's Center for the Environment and professor of chemistry; Dr. Alison DuBois, director of the Graduate School and associate professor of education; and Brian Petrus, assistant professor of business administration, recently presented at the Academy of Business Education's 20th annual conference on Sept. 19, in Savannah, Ga.

The trio—developers of the National Science Foundation-funded Environmental Project Management Academy (EPMA) at Westminster—discussed "Preparing Business and STEM Students for the 21st Century Workforce." Through Westminster's EPMA program, students collaborate with community stakeholders as they integrate knowledge of environmental science, project management, and soft skills with project work on environmental issues relevant to the region.

Boylan, who earned her undergraduate degree from Westminster and her Ph.D. from Duquesne University, joined the Westminster faculty in 2001. DuBois, who joined the Westminster faculty in 2011, earned her undergraduate degree from John Carroll University, her master's from Westminster and her Ph.D. from Duquesne University. Petrus earned his bachelor’s from Westminster and his MBA from Youngstown State University. He joined the Westminster faculty in 2013.
