In February, seven Westminster College mathematics majors and their faculty advisers participated in the 20th Annual Regional Student Paper Meeting at Youngstown State University. The conference was hosted by the Ohio XI chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society, a society dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding.

At the conference, senior mathematics majors Trevor Arrigoni and Nicholas Caiazza presented the results from their research projects alongside other undergraduates from across the region. Arrigoni presented his research entitled "Generalizing the Pill Problem," which was advised by associate professor of mathematics Dr. Natacha Fontes-Merz. Caiazza's presentation, "The Math Behind Cryptocurrency," was advised by associate professor of mathematics Dr. David Offner.

Others in attendance included: Andrius Burnelis, Elaina Chapnell, Jesus Estrada, George HuncikCasandra Stevens, professor of mathematics Dr. Carolyn Cuff and Dr. Barbara Faires, professor emerita and secretary of the Mathematical Association of America.

Funding support for the conference was provided by the National Science Foundation and the Mathematics Association of America Regional Mathematics Conferences grant committee.
