Westminster College Announces New Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The Graduate School at Westminster College announces the start the new Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program (CMHC) starting in Fall 2017. There will be an information session on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Berlin Lounge located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

The Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a 60 credit-hour cohort program aimed at developing a professional counseling identity. The program features tracks in Adult, Youth and School Counseling with specialty study options in Trauma and Rural/Distance Counseling.

“The program is designed to prepare students for work in community mental health agencies, residential treatment facilities, elementary and secondary schools, and hospitals,” says Eric Perry, assistant director of the graduate school. “The program is suited for with Bachelor degrees from any discipline.”

Graduates of the CMHIC program are eligible for the National Certified Counselor or credential (NCC) and are license-eligible in Pennsylvania and Ohio as a professional counselor (LPC). The program offers small class sizes with faculty who are engaging, student centered and highly committed to teaching.
