Westminster students Aaron Signer ‘19, Matt Gurneal ‘18 and Jacob Shodd ‘17 will be competing in the Trinity Firefighting Robot Competition in Hartford, Connecticut on March 30-April 2.
Signer, Gurneal and Shodd are developing a robot that can navigate a mock-up of a single-story home to find a "fire" (candle) and extinguish it. Teams from regional high schools and elementary, who were supported in part by Westminster’s Division of Cognitive and Quantitative Sciences, will accompany the Westminster students at the competition.
The Trinity Firefighting Robot Competition is an annual competition that attracts robotics teams from all over the world. Started in 1994 as a small local robotics event, the competition has grown to include over 100 robot teams from all over the world. It is held annually at Trinity College's campus in Hartford, Connecticut USA.
The competition will be live-streamed and a link will be available at www.trinityrobotcontest.org.
